James Oliver Gallery (JOG) is pleased to announce the opening reception of The Effect!: A Pop Art Blast. This is a national show featuring twenty-nine artists' contemporary interpretation of the 1960's Pop Art Movement. The reception will be held on April 25, 2008: 5:30 – 7:30 for Pop Art collectors and 7:30 – 10:00 for the general public. This is a great opportunity to see and purchase from some of the nation's great and up-and-coming artists.
Some of the featured artists of this exhibition include glassworks by Josh Opdenaker and Nate Purcell of Philly Glassworks, and German glassblower Marion Mack who uses a very rare glassblowing technique unrivaled in the United States. The noted and nationally recognized Philadelphia Pop Artist Jeff Schaller whose mostly known for his use of encaustic paintings of pop culture icons merged with service industry products, will be featuring a piece of his entitled SuperStars. New York City's superstar Portraitist Anthony Zito will be rolling out a portrait of the late Syd Barrett, the former leader of Pink Floyd, and will be producing personal portraits on the spot. Noted street artist and painter of Portland, Oregon Jonny Fenix will show a piece entitled War!, which is his political take on our nation's current crisis. Philadelphia's very own commercial photographer Dominic Episcopo will beguile audiences with another one of his large format photos. Participating vintage stores of Olde City and Northern Liberties will be showcasing clothing, jewelry, and furniture. Also JOG's regularly shown artists, George-Ann F. Greth, Lauren Hawkins, Ron Johnson, Steve Mogck, and Phil Vinson will be creating pieces specifically for the show.

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."
